Description

Poster Mehringplatz – Berlin

The Poster Mehringplatz Berlin represents an historic place near Hallesches Tor. I drew directly on the 17th of January 2019 at the location in the district Berlin-Kreuzberg : Map.

As a technique I applied wash drawing (ink and water). And the artistic tools that I used for this illustration are:

  • a sketchbook beige (textured paper, Format 23 x 15 cm – 9 ” x 5,9″-, 125 g/m2 – 427 lb.in2-)
  • un stylo calligraphique ("Pilot Parallel Pen" - 2,4 mm)
  • 2 fineliners Staedtler® pigment liner 0.1 and 0.05 mm
  • a fineliner Faber-Castell® PITT artist pen black 199***
  • 2 pinceaux (fin et moyen)
  • watercolour
  • crayons de couleur
  • watercolour dry pastels
  • craie

I did this urbansketch during the nice light of the sunset 🌅 It was so cold, that I drew during 45 minutes!
In the background there are some graffitis of @paradox_fuckthesystem and @obeygiant 🌷

History: Due to its circular shape, Mehringplatz was initially named „Rondell“. On 22 October 1815, it was renamed „Belle-Alliance-Platz“ after the Battle of La Belle Alliance,
an alternative name for the Battle of Waterloo. „Rondell“ was the southern entrance to Berlin. This „Friedenssäule“ (Peace Column) was constructed in 1830.

The illustration of the Poster Mehringplatz Berlin is also on my portfolio Urban Sketches.
