Each tote bag recycled Laeti-Berlin is a unique product because it’s handmade printed in my Berlin studio.
The impression of the tote bag recycled Electric Dancer natural is serigraphied in blue gradation color (ultramarine blue and cyan) on one side of a natural-colored (un-dyed) bag.
The original image is a monotype that I engraved in 2008.
Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface.
A tote bag is a fashion trend in Berlin. They have two handles. It’s called “Beutel” in German coming from the good old “Jutebeutel”, a natural fiber used for making rope and cloth and carrying potatoes. In the 1960s “Jute not Plastic” started the recycling movement. During the 80s jute bags became beautiful, practical and ecological items of alternative culture in Berlin.
Personally, I found this kind of bag for the first time in Berlin. In France, they don’t sell these in supermarkets and they don’t carry or wear them.
In fact, ecological conscience is part of my ethics. So I print this bag on organic textile. And this bag is completely recycled (Salvage ™): 60% recycled pre-consumer cotton organically grown, 40% Recycled post-consumer polyester.
Label “FAIR WEAR Foundation”: pro-active social responsibility. So this bag is too fair trade ! About Continental Clothing
