Each tote sling bag recycled Laeti-Berlin is a unique product because I silk-screened it in our collective print salon in Berlin.
This impression is serigraphied on one side with the white pattern « Electric Dancer » on a grey bag (melange black). The original image is a monotype that I engraved in 2008. Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface.
A tote bag is a fashion trend in Berlin. Sling bags with one band are comfortable to wear on the shoulder or across the chest. It’s called « Beutel » in German coming from the good old « Jutebeutel », a natural fiber used for making rope and cloth and carrying potatoes. In the 1960s « Jute not Plastic » started the recycling movement. During the 80s jute bags became beautiful, practical and ecological items of alternative culture in Berlin.
Personally, I found this kind of bag for the first time in Berlin. In France, they don’t sell these in supermarkets and they don’t carry or wear them.
In fact, ecological conscience is part of my ethics. So I print this bag on organic textile. And this bag is completely recycled (Salvage ™): 60% recycled pre-consumer cotton organically grown, 40% Recycled post-consumer polyester.
This bag is too Fairtrade 🙂
You can wash your bag up to 30 °C (86 °F). Don’t worry, the print will stay perfect because I fixed it with a special emulsion and I pressed it to impregnate.
This beautiful bag is closing with a snap fastener!
