Each tote bag colored Laeti-Berlin is a unique product because I silk-screened it in our collective print salon in Berlin.

This impression is serigraphied in white on silver (one side) with the pattern „Cuvrystr.“ on a „leaf green“ bag. I print these two colors to create a relief effect of my illustration.

The original image is an urban sketch that I drew with my calligraphic pen and with dry pastels on the 10th of March 2010 directly at the location in Berlin-Kreuzberg. This illustration represents the graffiti of the street artist Blu located in the street „Cuvrystraße“. Close to the river Spree and the crossroads of Schlesische Str. I was sitting in front of the big wall of graffitis, on the other side of this nomansland. I needed one hour for this illustration.
A typical place, made in Berlin, where these are dying out. But thanks to this urban sketch you have a souvenir of this graffiti.
This illustration is also on my blog „Traversée d’Encres“ with urban sketches („Through The Inks“).

A tote bag is a fashion trend in Berlin. They have two handles. It’s called „Beutel“ in German coming from the good old „Jutebeutel“, a natural fiber used for making rope and cloth and carrying potatoes. In the 1960s „Jute not Plastic“ started the recycling movement. During the 80s jute bags became beautiful, practical and ecological items of alternative culture in Berlin.
Personally, I found this kind of bag for the first time in Berlin. In France, they don’t sell these in supermarkets and they don’t carry or wear them.
In fact, ecological conscience is part of my ethics. So I print this bag on organic textile. And this bag is completely recycled (Salvage ™): 60% recycled pre-consumer cotton organically grown, 40% Recycled post-consumer polyester.
This bag is too Fairtrade 🙂

You can wash your bag up to 30 °C (86 °F). Don’t worry, the print will stay perfect because I fixed it with a special emulsion and I pressed it to impregnate.
